UFC featherweight Dennis Siver has reportedly tested positive for Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) following his UFC 168 win over Manny Gamburyan. MMAJunkie reports the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) is expected to formally announce a suspension later this week.
While hCG is primarily known as a fertility hormone in women, it has been found useful in increasing testosterone production in men. Elevated levels of hCG has been the cause of suspensions for former Major League Baseball player Manny Ramirez and current Houston Texans linebacker Brian Cushing.
The UFC has yet to officially comment on the possible suspension. The NSAC will likely issue a temporary suspension and fine in addition to overturning Siver’s victory over Gamburyan.
