UFC President Dana White suggested Hector Lombard as a possible next opponent for Matt Brown after his stunning performance at UFC Fight Night 40. Of course Brown made a comeback against Erick Silva two weeks ago and knocked out Silva.

Here is a piece from that fight to give you feel of how good/ danger Matt Brown is:

Brown was hurt early with a devastating body kick by Erick Silva in the first round, but came back to make Silva pay for that kick. He landed, punches, knees, kicks and takedowns, to make sure that was a memorable fight to say the least, the end came when Brown reigned down punches from the top position. Brown with more elbows and it cuts open Silva. Brown stands over him and throwing more leather, crazy pace, Herb Dean stops the fight, this one is over.

Hector Lombard has something to say about Brown and he tweeted about it:

Brown has 19-11 MMA record. He has 12 by KO, 5 by Submission and 2 coming by decision. However, he has lost 9 fights by submission and has never been knocked out. He is currently on a seven fight winning streak with wins over Chris Cope via TKO back in February of 2012, a unanimous decision over Stephen Thompson at UFC 145 in April of 2012. In the summer of 2012 he beat Luis Ramos via TKO in the second round. He finished 2012 on a very positive note with a knockout win over Mike Swick in the second round. In April of 2013 he beat Jordan Mein in the 2nd round with a TKO victory and the finally when he fought last against Mike Pyle he made short work of him by knocking him out in 29 seconds in the first round.

Hector Lombard (34-4) he 19 knockouts, 7 submissions and 8 decision victories in his MMA career. In his last four fights he is 3-1. He beat Rousimar Palhares via knockout at UFC on FX 6 – Sotiropoulos vs. Pearson on Dec / 15 / 2012, but lost to Yushin Okami via split decision at UFC on Fuel TV 8 – Silva vs. Stann on Mar / 03 / 2013. He won his last two fights, he beat Nate Marquardt via knockout at UFC 166 – Velasquez vs. dos Santos 3 on Oct / 19 / 2013 and then Jake Shields via unanimous decision at UFC 171 – Hendricks vs. Lawler on Mar / 15 / 2014.

This would be a great match up, Dana White is on board and apparently both fighters are as well. This seems like it is only a matter of time before it’s announced.
