As noted earlier this week on the website, Jake Shields (29-7-1) had to pull out of his fight with Jon Fitch (25-6-1) at WSOF 11. However, now Josh Burkman (27-10) will step in for Shields to fight Fitch.
Jake Shields has three knockouts, ten submissions and 16 decision victories in his career. He has been finished twice, which was 2 knock outs. He is a former Strikeforce Middleweight champion, and made his UFC debut in 2010 against Martin Kampmann. He won that fight, but lost against Georges St. Pierre in April of 2011 via Unanimous Decision. Since the GSP fight, his UFC record was and was released with a 3-2-1. He will be making his WSOF debut in this fight.
WSOF 11 takes place July 5 and most likely will air on NBC.
Jon Fitch is also a former UFC fighter. He was cut in February of 2013. He has five knockouts, five submissions and 15 Decision wins in his career. He has been finished four times in his career (2 ko’s & 2 Submissions) In his last four fights he is 2-2. Since being in WSOF, he is 1-1. He lost in his debut against Josh Burkman via Guillotine Choke in June of 2013, but got his first win in the promotion with a split Decision over Marcelo Alfaya in October.
Burkman is 6-1 in his past seven fights. In his last fight he knocked out Tyler Stinson in March.
