He made an upset last Saturday night and now he wants to make history, Bellator’s interim lightweight champion, Will Brooks (13-1 MMA, 5-1 BMMA)defeated Michael Chandler (12-1 MMA, 9-1 BMMA) at last Saturdays Bellator 120. He believes he might face current lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez (25-3 MMA, 9-1 BMMA)
Will Brooks has 4 knockouts, 4 submissions and 6 decision victories, while he has one knockout loss in his MMA career. Prior to joining Bellator he was on an eight fight winning streak. He won his Bellator debut against Ricardo Tirloni via unanimous decision at Bellator 87 on Jan / 31 / 2013. He lost his next fight against Saad Awad via 1st Rd KO at Bellator 91 on Feb / 28 / 2013. He went on a four fight winning streak starting with Cris Leyva via 3rd Rd KO at Bellator 97 on Jul / 31 / 2013, John Alessio via unanimous decision at Bellator 101 on Sep / 27 / 2013, Saad Awad via unanimous decision at Bellator 105 on Oct / 25 / 2013 and then he beat Alexander Sarnavskiy via unanimous decision at Bellator 109 on Nov / 22 / 2013.
However, Alvarez has one fight left on his Bellator contract and can pick his next fight. Most likely it will be against Chandler.
Alvarez told BloodyElbow.com “I would love to say Bellator is going to make the Brooks vs. Alvarez fight,” Brooks said. “But who knows? The fans have wanted the Chandler (vs.) Alvarez fight, and it sounds like people still want that Chandler vs. Alvarez fight. To me, I personally don’t care at this point. I’m just really excited about the progression I’ve made as a fighter.”
“I would love to hear that Will Brooks and Eddie Alvarez are going to fight on a pay-per-view card, but if I didn’t hear that, I wouldn’t be too shocked. If [Alvarez] and Chandler end up fighting and I end up having to fight Chandler again, I’ll be jacked up for that one, too.”
