Well, you could say that the UFC could have competition, but it’s more like Bellator does. World Series of Fighting officials confirmed that the promotion has inked a deal with NBC. WSOF President Ray Sefo said that the promotion has inked a new multi-year deal with NBC Sports Network that will see the company featured on multiple networks across the board. This will even feature a few shows on the big NBC channel.
The first event to appear on the Peacock Network will be WSOF 11: Gaethje vs. Newell, that takes place July 5. The main event will be lightweight champion Justin Gaethje (11-0) taking on undefeated contender Nick Newell (11-0).
Also on the card will be welterweights Josh Burkman (27-10) vs. Jon Fitch (35-6-1) and then lightweights Gesias Cavalcante (18-7-1) vs. Melvin Guillard (31-13-2) As of this writing, there is no location or time slot announced for the card.
The agreement runs through 2017 and could have up to 14 events could run on NBC sports. WSOF is in talks of holding a Dec. 27 event on NBC.
