CB Dollaway On How Beating Francis Carmont Could Change His Life

Andrew Ravens

Francis Carmont

UFC middleweight CB Dollaway recently spoke with USA Today about his upcoming fight with Francis Carmont this Saturday night at UFc Fight Night 41:

If he can beat Francis Carmont at UFC Fight Night 41, what does this mean as far as pay scale? “Maybe I miss out on $10,000 or $15,000 now, but a victory over him puts me in a position to make a lot more money. Have this fight and one more on my contract. Generally, the UFC negotiates with one fight left on your contract. So, after this fight, I’ll be renegotiating.”

C.B. Dollaway (14-5) has six knockouts, three submissions and 5 decision victories while he has been knocked out twice, submitted twice and lost by decision once. He has been with the UFC since being on the Ultimate Fighter season seven.

Him trying to save money because of the uncertainty of your career in the sport: “My wife and I will kind of go at it a little bit about how I’m like, I always want to have this amount of money saved, because in our line of work, things happen. You don’t get paid until you step into the ring on fight night. Sometimes, she doesn’t understand. (She says), ‘We have plenty of money, don’t worry.’ And I’m like, it’s my job to worry because if I don’t step into the ring on fight night, you blow an ACL out, we’re not getting paid for eight months. Now, I’m here, and I don’t worry, because I’m stepping into the ring on Saturday night.”

He lost to Tim Boetsch via split decision at UFC 166 – Velasquez vs. Dos Santos 3 on Oct / 19 / 2013, but won his last fight over Cezar Ferreira via knockout at UFC Fight Night – Shogun vs. Henderson 2 Mar / 23 / 2014
