Stipe Miocic On Possible Fight With Junior dos Santos

Stipe Miocic had an easy day at the office against Fabio Maldonado at TUF Brazil 3 Finale where he knocked Maldonado out in 35 seconds. His original opponent, Junior dos Santos was forced out due to injury. He spoke about a possible fight with JDS:

“If it happens, it happens. Right now, I’m happy with the [win] I got tonight. That’s all I was worried about, was tonight. I’m going to go back home and hang out with my family and see what the UFC wants me to do.”

In JDS’s last four fights he is 2-2. He beat Frank Mir via 2nd Rd TKO, then lost to Cain Velasquez via Unanimous Decision in December of 2012. He beat Mark Hunt via 3rd Rd KO in May of 2013 and then lost again to Cain Velasquez via 5th Rd TKO in October of 2013.

Stipe Miocic (12-1) He has seven knockouts, 1 submission and 3 decision victories while he has only one loss and that came by knockout. Prior to joining the UFC he was on a six fight winning streak. He made his UFC debut against Joey Beltran which he beat him via unanimous decision at UFC 136 – Edgar vs. Maynard 3 on Oct / 08 / 2011.In his last four fights he is 3-1. He beat Shane del Rosario via TKO at UFC 146 – Dos Santos vs. Mir on May / 26 / 2012, but lost to Stefan Struve via TKO at UFC on Fuel TV 5 – Struve vs. Miocic on Sep / 29 / 2012.

Was he was disappointed at the quick win?

“Oh God, no. I’m happy, said Stipe. That’s fine. I get to hang out here in Sao Paulo tomorrow and leave tomorrow night, so I’m happy to get to see the city.”

Miocic has since won two straight fights, he beat Roy Nelson via unanimous decision at UFC 161 – Evans vs. Henderson on Jun / 15 / 2013 and then Gabriel Gonzaga via unanimous decision at UFC on Fox 10 – Henderson vs. Thomson on Jan / 25 / 2014.
