Is There A Real Chance We See Nick Diaz Vs. Anderson Silva?

Andrew Ravens

Nick Diaz

Nick Diaz wants three types of fights to come out of retirement, either a title shot, a fight against GSP and now a fight against Anderson Silva. There has been rumblings online on whether or not this fight is going to happen or not, so the media asked UFC Prez Dana White. Here is what he had to say:

“I know they want it. I think that’s a very interesting fight, so we’ll see what happens.”

“Anderson isn’t coming back until December. It’s far enough that I don’t need to talk to him yet, said White. If Anderson wants to fight Nick and Nick wants to fight Anderson, why would I say no?”

Nate Diaz has a 17-9 MMA record and is 2-2 out of his last four. He beat Jim Miller, he then lost to Benson Henderson and then Josh Thomson back to back. In his last fight he beat Gray Maynard last November.

“I think it would be tough for Anderson to make 170. A few years ago, he was saying he could do it, but I don’t know about now. He’s not getting any younger. It might be the end of this year, or it could be next year. I don’t know.”

Time will tell if this fight happens or not, Silva is still recovering from his broken leg and is not expected back until 2015.
