Ovince St. Preux (16-5 MMA, 3-0 UFC) spoke with MMAjunkie about his win over Ryan Jimmo at UFC 174.
“I did my job as a fighter. The ref is there to protect us, but at the same time, all I heard was, ‘broken.’ If (Jimmo) said his arm was broken, my coach probably would have wanted me to [go after it], but knowing me, I probably would have stopped. But my coach always told me, ‘Don’t stop until the referee tells you to stop.'”
“When you’re in a fight, it’s just like everything is hitting you all at once. I didn’t hear anything. The only thing I heard was ‘broken.’ That’s it. I didn’t know what that was, and I’m in the middle of a fight. It’s almost like somebody walking up to you and saying, ‘Hey! What are you doing?’ You’re either going to jump, or turn around and hit them. I’m going to turn around and hit you.”
Ovince St. Preux has seven KO wins, four submission wins and four decision wins. He has been finished once in his career via knockout. He has won his last four fights and his latest fight was against Nikita Krylov back in March and won the fight via Technical Submission in the first round at UFC 171: Hendricks Vs. Lawler PPV.
He is rumored to fight Ryan Bader (17-4) in his next fight. Time will tell if that will be the case or not.
