Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira tore his right ACL days before his UFC Fight Night 39 main event against Roy Nelson. In fact, he lost the fight by 1st round knockout. Nogueira underwent surgery Tuesday afternoon in Rio de Janeiro.
Dr. Marcio Tannure had the following to say about the surgery:
“Rodrigo has an ACL injury, which is a ligament that stabilizes the right knee. He did a reconstruction of this ligament. The procedure was a success, everything went as expected, and we expect him to fight again in approximately six months.”
He is expected to be able to return in six months.
Nogueira has been on the downside of his career as of late. The legend is 1-3 in his last four fights. His last three losses have come by decisive finishes.
