UFC President Dana White sat down with UFC.com to talk about Demetrious Johnson’s win from UFC 174 and the possible fight between Johnson and John Dodson
On Johnson’s UFC 174 performance: “He looked amazing and he looks better every time he fights. He’s a guy that’s building a division. He’s building that division for us. I love the Johnson-Dodson fight.”
Johnson has 4 knockouts, seven submissions and 9 decision victories in his MMA career, while he has never been finished in a fight. He made his UFC debut at UFC 126 – Silva vs. Belfort on Feb / 05 / 2011 against Norifumi Yamamoto which he won by via unanimous decision.
Johnson would go on to defend his title three times and won all three of those fights. He beat John Dodson via unanimous decision at UFC on Fox 6 – Johnson vs. Dodson on Jan / 26 / 2013, John Moraga via submission at UFC on Fox 8 – Johnson vs. Moraga on Jul / 27 / 2013 and then Joseph Benavidez via knockout at UFC on Fox 9 – Johnson vs. Benavidez 2 on Dec / 14 / 2013.
His thoughts on the rumored Johnson vs. Dodson II: “Too bad if Demetrious doesn’t like that fight, that’s the fight he’s probably looking at. No doubt about it, that is (potentially) one of the premier match-ups in the UFC this year.”
John Dodson (15-6) Has seven knockouts, two submissions and six decision victories, while he has never been knocked out, but lost by decision six times.
Prior to joining the UFC, he was on a two fight winning streak. He made his UFC debut through the Ultimate Fighter and beat now UFC Bantamweight Champion T.J. Dillashaw via TKO at The Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale on Dec / 03 / 2011. He has since gone 3-1.
He beat Tim Elliott via unanimous decision at UFC on Fox 3 – Diaz vs. Miller on May / 05 / 2012 and then Jussier da Silva via TKO at UFC on FX 5 – Browne vs. Bigfoot on Oct / 05 / 2012. He lost to Demetrious Johnson in their title fight at where he lost via unanimous decision at UFC on Fox 6 – Johnson vs. Dodson on Jan / 26 / 2013.
In his last fight, John Dodson def. John Moraga via TKO (doctor’s stoppage) – Round 2, 5:00 on June 7th.
