Ali Bagautinov Says He Is Going To Come Back After Recent Loss

Andrew Ravens

Demetrious Johnson

Ali Bagautinov might have lost to Demetrious Johnson at UFC 174, but that is not going to stop him.

“It was hard to prepare myself mentally just before the fight against Johnson,” Bagautinov told “Because I knew that I had really big responsibility. I had so many thoughts in my head and I did my best.”

Ali Bagautinov (13-2) has five knockouts, four submissions and four decision victories, while he has never been finished in a fight.

“I don’t know what is next for me yet. Now I just wait the name of my next opponent and I’m going to come back after a loss. On the post-fight press conference Johnson and his coaches said that our fight was the toughest title defense he has ever had. So it means something to me.”

Prior to joining the UFC he was on an eight fight winning streak. He made his UFC debut against Marcos Vinicius Borges Pancini which he won via TKO at UFC Fight Night – Teixeira vs. Bader on Sep / 04 / 2013.

“Right now I am going to take some rest and help to my Russian teammates prepare for their fights and competitions.”

In his next two fights he beat Tim Elliott via unanimous decision at UFC 167 – St. Pierre vs. Hendricks on Nov / 16 / 2013 and then John Lineker via unanimous decision at UFC 169 – Barao vs. Faber 2 on Feb / 01 / 2014.

He is coming a loss to Johnson earlier this month at UFC 174.
