Chad Mendes is tired of Jose Aldo holding the fence in his fights to get the advantage of not being taken down and he explains why.

“It sucks looking back on it,” Mendes recently told MMAjunkie. “I’ve watched that fight multiple times, and it pisses me off every time. I mean, that definitely would have changed at least the first round.

Aldo (24-1) is the UFC’s second-ranked pound-for-pound fighter. He has won his last 16 fights.

He last fought at UFC 169 in February, beating Ricardo Lamas by unanimous decision for the featherweight title. Tickets for UFC 176 go on sale June 13.

”We’re definitely going to be talking to the refs beforehand this time, and I’m really going to be working on getting takedowns out in the open.”

Jose Aldo, the UFC’s dominant featherweight champion, will defend his belt in a rematch against top-ranked contender Chad Mendes of Sacramento on Aug. 2 at Staples Center in UFC 176.
