UFC Fight Night 43 goes down this Saturday morning on UFC Fight Pass. MMA Frenzy will have the latest news leading up to, during and after the event, as well as having the latest and greatest live play-by-play coverage of the event. From the first fight of the prelm side of the card of Fight Pass, then all the way to the main event fight on Fight Pass. Keep it locked on MMA Frenzy. The headlining fight is James Te Huna vs. Nate Marquardt, the co-main event is Soa Palelei vs. Jared Rosholt. The event airs from Vector Arena in Auckland, New Zealand. The show starts with Sean O’Connell vs. Gian Villante on Fight Pass at 2:30 a.m. ET and then starting the real fights with the main card on Fight Pass with Robert Whittaker vs. Mike Rhodes at 5:00. Main Card play-by-play
MIKE RHODES (6-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) VS. ROBERT WHITTAKER (11-4 MMA, 2-2 UFC)
Round 1: Whittaker presses early, both mixing it up well with leg kicks and strikes. Whittaker is looking for the over hand left hook. Mike lands a big right hand. Whittaker recovers well and clips Mike with a left hook. They exchange with Mike getting the better of the two. Whittaker with a nice 1,2,3 punch, but Mike answers with a right. Whittaker lands a big right hand, Mike drops, but he slips and recovers. Mike with a leading right that lands. Whittaker keeps coming forward, they exchange leg kicks and Mike lands a spinning back kick. Whittaker with a big right and then a body kick. Mike clinches and puts him to the fence, however, Whittaker reveres and get’s out where he we go back to striking. They exchange to end the round.
Round 2: Whittaker keeps throwing an overhand right (that misses) Mike misses a wild kick, but Whittaker lands a nice overhand right. Mike with double hooks and takes him down for a second. Whittaker get’s to his feet, but Mike keeps the underhooks and sends him back first to the fence. They break, go back to standing. Whittaker with a big swing and miss, Mike lands a few jabs. Whittaker keeps looking for that overhand right, but misses almost every time. In fact, when he does, Mike lands a good counter shot. Whittaker hurts Mike in the middle of this round, but Mike calms down and nicely recovers while Whittaker is swinging for the fences. Mike’s right eye is starting to swell up. Whittaker with a double jab and a head kick, but Mike with a head kick. They exchange with Whittaker landing a uppercut. A fun fight no doubt and they exchange to end the round.
Round 3: More of the same, Mike is bleeding from the nose and is just swinging to attempt to end this fight. Whittaker is throwing elbows and is busting Mike up pretty good. Whittaker gets a double leg takedown and puts Mike on his back! Whittaker is in half guard, They exchange elbows and really are having a fist fight on the ground. Mike sits up and is trying to get to his feet, Whittaker keeps landing nice shots from top position, the referee stands them up and Mike lands a spinning back kick to end this fight.
Result: Whittaker def. Rhodes by unanimous decision (30-27 x3)

HATSU HIOKI (27-7-2 MMA, 3-3 UFC) VS. CHARLES OLIVEIRA (17-4 MMA, 5-4 UFC)
Round 1: They come out in a feeling process, Hioki gets a clinch and puts him on the fence, he then takes him down. Oliveira tries to get out, but Hioki takes the back of Oliveira . However, Oliveira slides out and clinches, he puts Hioki on the fence, where he applies pressure. Hioki with another takedown which leads to side control. Oliveira postures up and leads Hioki back to guard. They stand once more, Hioki clinches and puts him on the fence. Oliveira reverses and gets a double leg takedown. He applies a choke, he has a darth choke, but Hioki gets out. Oliveira clinches and Hioki ends the round in dominant position while in the clinch.
Round 2: They come out swinging, but Oliveira gets a single leg takedown. Hioki gets up and gets a takedown of his own. He is in half guard, Oliveira looking to sweep and he gets a leg lock. However, Hioki slides out and they stand. Oliveira appears to get poked in the eye, the doctor checks out his eye, were good to go. Once we get back to action, they exchange and Hioki takes down Oliveira . He is in guard, landing effect strikes. Oliveira reverses and keeps looking for chokes, triangles, guillotine chokes. However, what finishes this fight is an anaconda choke by Oliveira.

SOA PALELEI (21-3 MMA, 3-1 UFC) VS. JARED ROSHOLT (10-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC)
Round 1: A feeling out process, Soa looks for a takedown and gets a single leg. Rosholt back up, but Sao takes him down again and puts him on the fence. Rosholt reverses and clinches with Soa, he is now looking for a single leg takedown while Soa is landing strikes from the top. Rosholt keeps clinching with Soa, really dominating Soa, not letting him go anywhere. Soa drops and tries to get a takedown, but Rosholt stays calm, takes him down and looks for an arm triangle, he lets that go so he can get Soa’s back, he puts all of his weight on Soa. He lands knees to the body of Soa. Rosholt keeps his dominant weights, lands some short, but effective strikes and that’s how we end the round.
Round 2: Rosholt comes out and is swinging, he clinches with Soa, puts him on the fence and lands some serious uppercuts. Rosholt keeps the clinch, picking apart Soa with strikes and knees. Sao attempts a takedown, but Rosholt shuts him down and gets his back where he continues to the beat down of Soa. Now, Soa gets up, misses a wild shot, but is very tired. They exchange to end the round.
Round 3: We come out and in thirty seconds, Rosholt takes Soa down. He has his back and we go back to what we have seen all fight, Soa take shots and Rosholt controlling this one. Soa is sucking wind right now and Rosholt is having his way in this fight. OSU wrestlers are starting to stand out and this is a very impressive fight for Rosholt . Soa tries to go to his back, side, stomach, but Rosholt keeps grinding on Soa and cruises his way to victory.

NATE MARQUARDT (32-13-2 MMA, 10-6 UFC) VS. JAMES TE HUNA (16-7 MMA, 5-3 UFC)
Round 1: Marquardt with a right hand and a head kick right off the bat. Marquardt with a big knee that drops Huna, but Huna recovers and takes Marquardt down. Marquardt reverses and gets into guard. He lands strikes from the top position. He lands short, but effective elbows from the top. However, Tuna stands up and is clinching with Marquardt. He puts him on the fence, he is landing real good strikes and Tuna is bleeding. Tuna keeps Marquardt on the fence, he is landing knees to the body of Marquardt Now, Marquardt reverses and is on the outside where he takes Huna down and is in half guard. Now mount! Marquardt lands short elbows where he roughs up Huna, this leads to an armbar victory.
