The scheduled fight between Chad Mendes vs. Jose Aldo featherweight title bout that was pegged for UFC 176 on August 2nd was delayed to do Aldo getting hurt, UFC President Dana White said that the fight still could happen.
“Aldo is going to be out 45 days – the Mendes/Aldo fight can still happen. He always has neck injuries. He always has the neck. He has to do some sort of workout and neck thing. “I don’t know what it is. I’m not educated about it; I don’t know what I’m talking about. He’s not ready. He’ll be ready 45 days later. Forty-five days after (UFC 176) he’ll be OK to fight.”
Aldo (24-1) is the UFC’s second-ranked pound-for-pound fighter. He has won his last 16 fights.
UFC 176 takes place on August 2 in Los Angeles, California, at the Staples Center and will air live on pay-per-view.
