The UFC has announced that a lightweight bout between Justin Edwards (8-4 MMA, 2-4 UFC) and Yancy Medeiros (9-2 MMA, 0-2 UFC) has been added to UFC 177 card.
Justin Edwards (8-4) Has one knockout, six submissions and one win by decision. Prior to joining the UFC, he was on a six fight winning streak. He made his UFC debut against Clay Harvison, but lost via split decision at The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale on Jun / 04 / 2011. In his next two fights he went 1-1. In his last three fights prior to UFC 177, he is 1-2.
Edwards beat Josh Neer via submission at UFC on FX 5 – Browne vs. Bigfooton Oct / 05 / 2012, but then lost to Brandon Thatch via knockout at UFC Fight Night – Condit vs. Kampmann 2 on Aug / 28 / 2013 and then lost to Ramsey Nijem via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night – Rockhold vs. Philippou on Jan / 15 / 2014.
Yancy Medeiros (9-2) Has six knockouts, one submissions and two wins by decision. Prior to joining the UFC, he was on a nine fight winning streak. He made his UFC debut against Rustam Khabilov, but lost due to a thumb injury at UFC 159 – Jones vs. Sonnen on Apr / 27 / 2013. His next fight was a no contest against Yves Edwards. In his next fight he lost by submission at UFC 172 – Jones vs. Teixeira on Apr / 26 / 2014, against Jim Miller.
UFC 177 takes place Aug. 30 at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, Calif. Its headliner is a rematch from UFC 173 in May between new bantamweight champ T.J. Dillashaw against ex-champ Renan Barao. The event will air on Fight Pass, Fox Sports 1 and PPV.
