In some unfortunate news, Khabib Nurmagomedov is out of his scheduled fight with Donald Cerrone at UFC 178.

Dana White told media that twenty minutes after both Donald Cerrone and Khabib Nurmagomedov signed on to fight at UFC 178, Khabib Nurmagomedov blew his knee out.

White later added that Cerrone will be fighting someone else. When asked if the recent bad blood with Nick Diaz and Cerrone could lead to a fight, White called it “ridiculous”.

Cerrone (23-6-1) has three wins by knockout, 15 wins by submission and five by decision in his MMA career. In his last four fights he is 3-1, he lost to Rafael dos Anjos via unanimous decision back in August of 2013. Since then he has been on a three fight winning streak with wins over Evan Dunham via Triangle Choke back in November, then a 1st RD knockout win over Adriano Martins in January of this year. Finally, he beat Edson Barboza via rear naked choke last month at UFC on Fox 11. Cerrone is coming off a strong victory over Jim Miller at UFC Fight Night 45 where he won the fight with a head kick Round 2, 3:31.

UFC 178 takes place Sept. 27 in Las Vegas, Nevada live on pay-per-view. The main event will be a rematch from a classic fight between Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson.

A replacement for Cerrone will be announced soon. Stay tuned.
