Rory MacDonald (17-2 MMA, 8-2 UFC) and former Strikeforce champion Tarec Saffiedine (15-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC) are scheduled to meet at UFC Fight Night 54 as well as the featured fight.

Rory MacDonald (17-2) has six knockouts, six submissions and four decision victories while he has been knocked out once. Prior to joining the UFC he was on a nine fight winning streak. He joined the UFC in 2010 where he beat Michael Guymon via 1st armbar at Fight Night 20 on Jan / 11 / 2010.

He would lose to Carlos Condit via 3rd TKO at UFC 115 – Liddell vs. Franklin on Jun / 12 / 2010 in his next fight.

After that fight he would crank out a five winning streak with wins over Nate Diaz, Mike Pyle, Che Mills and BJ Penn. He would also beat Jake Ellenberger via unanimous decision at UFC on Fox 8 – Johnson vs. Moraga on Jul / 27 / 2013.

He would go on to lose to Robbie Lawler via split decision at UFC 167 – St. Pierre vs. Hendricks on Nov / 16 / 2013. In his last fight prior to UFC 174, he beat Demian Maia via unanimous decision at UFC 170 – Rousey vs. McMann on Feb / 22 / 2014. He is coming off a win over Tyron Woodley at UFC 174.

Tarec Saffiedine (15-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC) In last his five wins have come via Decision. The only notable win is over Nate Marquardt, but did not finish him. In his last fight, he beat Hyun Gyu Lim via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 34.

UFC Fight Night 54 goes down Oct. 4 at Halifax Metro Centre. While there are no broadcasting plans that have been announced at this time, a combination of FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass is expected.
