Ramsey Nijem meets Carlos Diego Ferreira at UFC 177 and he strongly believes that if he can beat Ferreira then he is on his way to a title shot.
“I was hoping to get a fight in August, and this is the fight they gave me. He’s undefeated. He beat a ‘TUF’ winner in 38 seconds. He was a legacy champion. There’s a lot of hype around him. The only thing is I’m coming into this fight representing a lot more, and I have no choice but to go out and make another performance. I’m going to go win a title and this guy is in my way. I’m not concerned with whoever the opponent is going to be, whatever his name is, what his style is. I’m going out there doing my best to make statements and keep moving up the lightweight division.”
Nijem (9-4) Has three knockouts, two submissions and four wins by decision. He made his UFC debut through the Ultimate Fighter. Prior to his UFC debut, he was on a three fight winning streak. He made that debut against Tony Ferguson, but lost via 1st RD KO at The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale on Jun / 04 / 2011. Looking at his last five fights, prior to UFC 177, he has a record of 3-2.
UFC 177 takes place Aug. 30 at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, Calif. Its headliner is a rematch from UFC 173 in May between new bantamweight champ T.J. Dillashaw against ex-champ Renan Barao. The event will air on Fight Pass, Fox Sports 1 and PPV.
