Current WSOF welterweight champ Rousimar Palhares was expected to face Jon Fitch in September, but he is looking for his next fight and he wants it to be against Jon Fitch.
“I am ready,” Palhares (16-6) said. “I was supposed to fight Jon Fitch on Sept. 13, but I guess WSOF needed to change the date, so I am training and ready to fight him or whoever they want to put in there against me. I’m just waiting for them to set the new date.”
Jon Fitch 26–6–1 is also a former UFC fighter. He was cut in February of 2013. He has five knockouts, five submissions and 15 Decision wins in his career. He has been finished four times in his career (2 KO’s & 2 Submissions) In his last four fights he is 2-2. Since being in WSOF, he is 1-1. He lost in his debut against Josh Burkman via Guillotine Choke in June of 2013, but got his first win in the promotion with a split Decision over Marcelo Alfaya in October.
“I think Fitch is a great fighter, and I think he deserves to fight for the title,” Palhares said. “But I’ll fight whoever they want.”
Palhares is currently looking for his next fight and once we know that fight, we will let you know first.
