“UFC Tonight” Analyst Give Thoughts On Michael Bisping-Cung Le

UFC Fight Night 48

“UFC Tonight” analysts Daniel Cormier, Kenny Florian and Brian Stann offered up their thoughts on Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 48 main event between Michael Bisping and Cung Le.

The bout takes place on UFC Fight Pass from The Venetian in Macao, China.

Bisping is coming off a loss to Tim Kennedy that followed a year-long layoff due to an eye injury, while Le hasn’t competed since defeating Rich Franklin in 2012 via knockout – also in China.

“This is a tough fight for Cung because normally he’s flat footed, trying to get off big punches and kicks,” Cormier said. “Bisping uses his footwork and his boxing to give guys like Cung problems. Michael isn’t known for his punching power and sometimes Cung can be hurt by big punchers. That will allow him to go forward and get off those big punches against Bisping.”

Florian, a former contender to the UFC title, stated that, “People forget about Cung’s wrestling background. He’s a guy you don’t want tie up with the upper body. He can throw you. If Bisping wants to take him down, he should go for those leg attacks. But he’s got to be careful because he’s a good southpaw.”

As for Stann, who once shared the cage with “The Count,” he feels there is one big difference in the two fighters.

“For Cung Le, it’s a five-round fight,” he said. “You have to go out there and get after Bisping early. Bisping is a cardio machine.”
