In case cocktail hour turned into cocktail binging last night, you may have missed that the expected scrap between Ronda Rousey and Cat Zingano finally has a date.
The bantamweight champ will look to defend her title against Zingano at UFC 182, which will take place on January 3rd in Las Vegas, Nevada. The card’s venue as yet to be determined.
Following Zingano’s third round, stoppage win over Amanda Nunes in September, UFC President Dana White confirmed that the 32 year-old fighter would challenge Rousey next. If you recall, Zingano was supposed to fight Rousey last year, since she took out Miesha Tate in April, 2013.
“Alpha” injured her knee not long after the bout, however, and was sidelined for months. Zingano is currently ranked in the #1 contender position.
The 27 year-old Rousey continues to cruise as champ, as the Judoka is coming of a 16 second demolition of Alexis Davis, and before that, a 66 second, stoppage win over Sarah McMann.
So, with this addition, UFC 182 will feature two title fights. Light-heavyweight champ Jon Jones is scheduled to battle Daniel Cormier in the main event.
Hector Lombard is also booked to fight Josh Burkman in the latter’s Octagon debut. The card will be available throughout North America via pay-per-view.
