Whether it’s because there’s been so many events lately, or because most folks are focused on Fabricio Werdum vs. Mark Hunt, this Saturday’s scrap between Jake Ellenberger and Kelvin Gastelum has gotten lost a little bit in the mix. The two are set to fight at UFC 180 on Saturday, in a fight that features the #7 ranked welterweight Ellenberger, taking on the #11 positioned Gastelum.
It’s a huge fight for both men. Ellenberger is coming off consecutive losses to Rory MacDonald and Jake Ellenberger, and really needs a win to stay in that top contenders mix. Gastelum, on the other hand, has done nothing but win in the UFC. A win over a vet like Ellenberger would almost certainly catapult him into the top ten.
So, if you want to get up to speed on how each man’s preparation has gone for the pivotal fight, you can check out their “Countdown” segment below.
If you’re wondering, the betting lines have Gastelum as the favorite in the -200 to -260 range. Interesting no?
UFC 180 will go down in Mexico City and will be available via pay-per-view.
