Two weeks from today, Johny Hendricks will look to defend the UFC Welterweight Championship for the first time, when he throws down with Robbie Lawler on December 6th. It will mark the first time Hendricks has fought since he decisioned Lawler for the vacant title back in March, and just the second time he’s competed since his unforgettable bout with Georges St-Pierre.
That fight took place just over a year ago on November 16th, 2013, and not only was it a thrilling bout, in many ways it was historical. St-Pierre emerged with a split decision win, and extended his awe inspiring winning streak to 12, but many people believed “Rush” in fact lost the fight. Not only that, but the MMA world hadn’t seen GSP take punishment like that in years, and afterwards the star announced he was taking a hiatus from fighting.
If you’re new to the sport, or for some other, mind boggling reason you haven’t seen GSP-Hendricks, the UFC has posted the memorable bout for free. In other words, now you have no excuse not to watch it….
Hendricks-Lawler II will headline UFC 181, which will go down in Las Vegas on Decmeber 6th.
