Marcus Aurelio Replaces Injured Matt Veach, Fights Evan Dunham at UFC 102

Marcus AurelioLightweight Marcus Aurelio will return to the UFC later this month to replace an injured Matt Veach and take on Evan Dunham on the UFC 102 preliminary card on August 28 in Portland, Oregon.

According to MMAjunkie, Veach was forced to withdraw from the card after re-aggravating a back injury during a recent training session.

Aurelio (18-7), a PRIDE veteran, suffered a split decision loss to Clay Guida in his UFC debut in 2007, but bounced back with wins over Luke Caudillo and Ryan Roberts. “Maximus” left the UFC following back-to-back losses to Tyson Griffin and Hermes Franca last year, but rebounded in 2009 with victories over Chris Liguori and Joey Gorczynski.

The 27-year-old Oregon-native Dunham (8-0), who trains out of Xtreme Couture, made his UFC debut in February with a first-round TKO of Per Eklund at UFC 95 in London.

UFC 102 is headlined by Randy Couture vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and also features Keith Jardine vs. Thiago Silva, Chris Leben vs. Jake Rosholt, Demian Maia vs. Nate Marquardt, and Krzysztof Soszynski vs. Brandon Vera.
