Donald Cerrone has repeatedly stated that he likes to fight, and fight often, and following his win on Saturday night, “Cowboy” has been booked for another scrap in just a couple of weeks time.
Yes, the UFC has announced that Cerrone is stepping in for the injured Eddie Alvarez, who was booked to fight former lightweight champ Benson Henderson on January 18th. Cerrone worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Myles Jury at UFC 182 on January 3rd. So yeah, he’s agreed to fight one of the planet’s top 155érs on 15 days notice.
Now, if you followed Cerrone during his WEC days, then you may recall that he’s been defeated by Henderson twice. When they met for the first time in October, 2009, “Smooth” won the bout via UD. They fought again in April, 2010, and Henderson won that fight as well, but that time he did so with a first round, guillotine choke.
More recently, Henderson was taken out by Rafael dos Anjos at a Fight Night card in August.
UFC FN 59 will go down at Boston’s TD Garden Arena, and will feature rising featherweight Conor McGregor taking on Dennis Siver in the main event.
