Bellator’s upcoming schedule has lost one of its big name fights, as welterweight champ Douglas Lima is reporting an injury will prevent him from fighting Paul Daley next month.

Lima and Daley were set to battle at Bellator 134, which will go down on February 2th in Uncasville, Connecticut. The following tweet, however, recently appeared on Lima’s Twitter feed:

Daley, who likely has never been referred to as shy, proceeded to take a verbal jab at Lima on Facebook.

Here is what Lima had to say in reply:

So, this is unfortunate news, as a lot of people were excited to see Lima battle Daley.

If you restrict your MMA diet to just the UFC, and haven’t seen Lima fight, that’s very unfortunate. Not only is Lima a ridiculously powerful striker–his last 7 wins have come via stoppage–he’s also really dangerous on the ground.

Daley, of course, has long been regarded as one of the more punishing strikers in MMA, and has scored knockouts or TKOs in his last six victories.

Bellator hasn’t made any announcement regarding Lima’s injury. The 27 year-old has been plagued by injuries in the last year or so, and has fought just once now since 2013.

The only man who has defeated Lima in his 9 Bellator appearances is former champ, Ben Askren.
