UFC on FOX 14: Anthony Johnson Takes Home Extra $50K

Kelsey Mowatt

Anthony Johnson

Anthony Johnson recorded what was likely his biggest victory to date at UFC on FOX 14, and the surging light-heavyweight also earned an extra $50,000 while doing so.

Johnson caught Alexander Gustafsson with a booming right early on into the card’s main event, and then finished the deal with ground-and-pound strikes. With the win, Johnson will advance to a title fight witht light-heavyweight champ, Jon Jones.

Gegard Mousasi quickly took out the legendary Dan Henderson in the co-headliner, and the middleweight also collected a “POTN.”

Henderson protested the stoppage, which came after Mousasi sent the decorated fighter stumbling to the ground with a right hook. Henderson took a couple more shots, but didn’t appear to ever go out.

Makwan Amirkhani also scored a “POTN” for his stoppage win over Andy Ogle, which took just eight seconds. The beginning of the end for Ogle came with a flying knee that Amirkhani threw right of the gate, and then a punishing, uppercut that sent him to the canvas.

Ogle also didn’t agree with the ref’s decision, but it was lucrative performance for Amirkhani nonetheless.

The last, and fourth “POTN” went to welterweight Kenny Robertson, who floored Sultan Aliev with a left hook in the first round.

UFC on FOX 14 was hosted by the Tele2 Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.
