Benson Henderson impressed more than a few people last night with his memorable win over Brandon Thatch, and clearly UFC President Dana White is one of them.
As you likely know by now, Henderson moved up in weight to battle the very dangerous welterweight at UFC Fight Night 60, and sealed a victory with a fourth round, rear-naked-choke.
After the card, White spoke with FOX Sports Live, and here is some of what he had to say about Henderson’s win (quote via press release):
“I’m so blown away with Benson Henderson. This size difference was insane. Henderson picked him apart from the first round. What’s crazy coming out of the third round, both of Thatch’s eyes were closing. But Benson didn’t even look like he was in a fight. He’s so tough and so talented, I’m so impressed.”
In Henderson’s post fight interview he offered to fight welterweight contender Rory MacDonald, who is currently opponent-less. Here is what White had to say about Henderson’s offer after the card:
“After what he did tonight, who can deny him at 170 pounds?”
How about that for some lofty praise? And as far as MacDonald, according to a follow up report from MMA Junkie.com, White relayed in the post fight presser that the promotion has other plans for the Canadian…That’s not surprising, considering MacDonald is knocking on the door for a title shot at 170.
