Luke Rockhold believes Lyoto Machida is a “clean fighter”, but the middleweight contender has noticed that some of “The Dragon’s” training partners have failed drug tests.
Rockhold will battle Machida at UFC on FOX 15, who has never tested positive for any type of banned substance. The former light-heavyweight champ has trained at the Black House gym in Los Angeles over the years, however, which is home to the likes of Anderson Silva, Kevin Casey and Brian Ortega. All three of those fighters have failed tests in recent months.
The former Strikeforce champ recently spoke with CBS Sports Radio’s Gio and Jones, and while discussing PEDs and Black House, Rockhold said the following:
“I’m not a fan of (cheating), and I definitely am pushing for more drug testing, more random blood testing and whatnot,” Rockhold said. “Especially (within the) Black House camp. There’s been (three or fur guys from that camp who have been caught cheating) and (Lyoto) Machida is a Black House guy.”
“I think he’s (Machida) a clean fighter, but I’m definitely pushing (for more testing),” Rockhold said. “I want a clean sport, like baseball. We need to get on their level. Let’s start cleaning things up a little bit here.”
After recalling the fact Rockhold missed 19 months due to a shoulder injury, the well rounded fighter had this to say about his home gym, American Kickboxing Academy.
“There’s always a couple bad seeds that pop in. But luckily, I have such a great training camp. We have the cleanest, strongest camp. We push out the bad seeds. We want to keep our camp clean.”
UFC on FOX 15 will be hosted by the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
