Following his quick, stoppage loss to Gegard Mousasi last month, Dan Henderson already has his next fight booked.
The UFC has announced that the 44 year-old legend will throw down with middleweight contender Tim Boetsch on June 6th. The fight will be part of UFC Fight Night 68, which will feature a light-heavyweight scrap between Daniel Cormier and Ryan Bader in the main event.
Henderson (30-13) was coming off a technical, submission loss to Cormier, heading into his bout with Mousasi. The former PRIDE champ has gone 1-5 in his last 6 contests, with his only win during that stretch coming again “Shogun” Rua. Yes, it should be noted that the defeats have come against top tier competition in the likes of Lyoto Machida, Rashad Evans and Vitor Belfort.
Boetsch (18-8) has been winning one and losing one as of late. The powerful fighter stopped Brad Tavares last August, but was choked out by Thales Leites in his last bout, which took place at UFC 183. “The Barbarian” is 2-3 in his last 5 fights.
In addition, the UFC has also confirmed that Matt Mitrione (9-3) will take on fellow, heavyweight contender Ben Rothwell (34-9) on June 6th. A lightweight scrap between Joe Proctor (10-3) and Justin Edwards (8-4) is also signed.
UFC FN 68 will be hosted by the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.
