Valerie Letourneau was on full attack throughout the course of her strawweight battle against Jessica Rakoczy.
Letourneau and Rakoczy both had their moments in the first round which was almost entirely ground exchanges. Letourneau nearly had the finish after she was taken down by Jessica when she locked up a triangle/armbar combination. Despite getting Rakoczy’s arm fully extended, Rakoczy toughed her way through it and later found herself in top position.
The last two rounds took place on the feet where Letourneau put her technical striking on display. Letourneau’s left jab, lead hook, and left kicks put a stamp on Rakoczy’s right eye – literally. Rakoczy sported a badly swollen right eye at the end of the second round; despite complaining about her inability to see, Jessica persuaded the doctor to keep the fight going.
Letourneau ended the fight on a strong note as she easily took Rakoczy down late in the third after landed a flush left head kick that had her opponent rocked earlier in the round. Letourneau is definitely a women to keep an eye on as she showed dangerous submission attacks, and venomous striking throughout the affair.
Letourneau picked up the unanimous victory on the judge’s scorecards.
