Following “Rampage” Jackson’s decision win over Fabio Maldonado at UFC 186, he said he wants to avenge all of his previous losses, but Rashad Evans is certain that wouldn’t happen…
If you recall, Evans and Jackson fought back in May, 2014, and “Suga” won the bout via unanimous decision. Well, Jackson recently mentioned Evans as one man that he’d like to face again, now that the former light-heavyweight champ has returned to the UFC.
Well, not surprisingly, Evans was asked for his take on Jackson’s recent win while appearing on “The MMA Hour’, as well as the latter’s plans to avenge his defeats. Here is some of what the former champ had to say (quotes via MMA Fighting.com):
“I would definitely give ‘Rampage’ a rematch,” Evans said. “That’s a fight I’d really like to have. He came out there, he kind of looked alright. He had [some] things going on, so I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. But I’ll tell you what. If that ‘Rampage’ gets in front of me, woooo, I’m gonna highlight reel knock out on him.”
Alright then. Clearly Evans wasn’t too impressed with what Jackson showcased on April 25th, but in defense of the PRIDE vet, he did have to deal with some serious drama leading up to the fight (yes, all the Bellator contract stuff).
Evans, meanwhile, hasn’t fought since November, 2013, when he quickly took out Chael Sonnen. Since then, the well rounded fighter has gone down with two knee injuries, and the 35 year-old isn’t currently booked for a fight. Evans is currently ranked #4 in the 205 division, so one would think Jackson would be interested in that fight, if the UFC offered it.
Jackson, meanwhile, has moved into the #11 spot, following his successful Octagon return. It will be interesting to see who the UFC looks to match the decorated fighters up against next…
