You may have heard that Ronda Rousey has a new book coming out, “My Fight / Your Fight”, and based off recent reports, it sounds like the UFC champ discusses many sensitive and intriguing things in it. Not surprisingly, it covers her rise through Judo, her Olympic run, her personal struggles, and of course, Rousey’s MMA career.
Another topic Rousey reportedly dives into are the old rumors that she was having a relationship with UFC boss man Dana White. Back in 2012, when Rousey was the Strikeforce champion, she attended several events with White, as the parties were negotiating a deal (and the internet started talking). Then, of course, it was announced Rousey was moving to the UFC, and she made her Octagon debut in February, 2013.
Rousey recently appeared on “The MMA Hour” to plug the book, and host Ariel Helwani asked the champ whether she was prompted by her sister to address the rumors in it (her sister helped her write the book). Here is some of what the 28 year-old star had to say (quotes via Bloody Elbow.com):
“No, I just told the story the way that I told it. And that was one of the things on my mind, that I had to keep it a secret, for that long, that I was gonna be in the UFC. That was something I really had to go through. I’m terrible at keeping secrets. I’m terrible at deflecting things if someone is like, “Why are you here?” And I can’t say why I’m there? I mean, that was a really frustrating time for me. To leave that out would be omitting the truth.”
“Yeah, it was annoying, but it was also kind of cool in that, you know, I was flying around on a private plane, being spoiled. But, it was annoying in that I kept getting built up and then let down and built up and let down. And it happened, like, three times until they surprised me.”
The Judoka has won five straight bouts now since she arrived in the UFC. Up next, on August 1st at UFC 190, Rousey will take on Bethe Correia. That bout will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
