A lot of people understood that Travis Browne versus Andrei Arlovski had the makings of an outstanding fight, and that’s exactly what went down at UFC 187.
If you saw the card, then you know that Arlovski had Browne in all sorts of trouble, before the latter floored the former champ with a right hand. Arlovski got back up, however, returned fired, and prompted the ref’s intervention with several, cracking rights.
Not surprisingly, after the card the UFC confirmed that Arlovski and Browne had earned “Fight of the Night” and $50K each.
The “Performance of the Nights” went to Daniel Cormier and Chris Weidman. Cormier tapped out Anthony Johnson with a third round, RNC to win the vacant light-heavyweight title.
Weidman, meanwhile, defended the 185 belt by TKO’ing Vitor Belfort with punches from the top position.
UFC 187 was hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
