This time last year, there were more than a few folks who were pretty indifferent, or even critical, about Andrei Arlovski’s pending return to the UFC. Well, fast forward to today, and “The Pitbull’s” a top five ranked heavyweight.
How about that huh?
On May 26th, 2014, Arlovski was set to face Brendan Schaub on June 14th at UFC 173. Now granted, Arlovski won the bout via a controversial, split decision, but in September, he bombed out “Bigfoot” Silva in the opening round.
As a result, Arlovski was booked to fight top contender Travis Browne this past weekend at UFC 187, and once again, the former champ scored the upset. As a result of Arlovski’s thrilling, first round stoppage of “Hapa”, he’s been moved into the #4 spot…Crazy. Prior to Saturday’s bout he was #8.
Now it will be interesting to see who the UFC taps to fight Arlovski next, and whether he can continue his comeback run.
