Ryan Bader’s Worried Daniel Cormier is Going to be a “Full Blown Diva”

Ryan Bader

Ryan Bader and Daniel Cormier have been exchanging ‘pleasantries’ for several weeks now, and following the latter’s championship win at UFC 187, their rivalry continues…

As you likely heard, after Cormier tapped out Anthony Johnson to become light-heavyweight champ, “DC” and Bader had a heated chat at the post-fight presser. It was a follow up from the pre-fight words they exchanged, regarding Bader’s ongoing campaign for a title shot.

Well, recently Bader appeared on “Submission Radio“, and while discussing the importance of staying humble, he relayed the following (quotes via FOX

“You go through your life humbly and you go into this whole MMA deal and people want your autograph and you’re like ‘Holy crap. Why do people want my autograph?’ And you respect the fans and just respect yourself and the sport itself. That’s what people love about MMA. They love that there’s no real divas and we’re all accessible, and they can come up and shake your hand and take a picture.

“And 99 percent of the fighters are like that, you know? I just don’t want to see Cormier or any other fighters start taking that diva route. And so like you saw right when he came to the press conference, he goes ‘address me as champ.’ And you know he could be kind of joking around here and there, but you know I’ve been around him, and I can just see it just piling on, piling on, and pretty soon he’s going to be a full-blown diva.”

Now of course, Cormier, his team and supporters would likely take issue with Bader’s take on all this. There’s also the possibility that Cormier is just playing things up a bit for promotional purposes. After all, now the UFC has a fight to book with some nice buzz behind it.

Bader is currently sitting in the #3 ranking slot and is riding a four fight win streak. Most recently, the powerful wrestler earned a UD victory over Phil Davis, who has since headed to Bellator. When you look at the 205 title shot picture, it’s hard to argue with Bader’s contention that he should challenge for the belt next.
