It only took 23 seconds for Patrick Williams to put Alejandro Perez to sleep.
From the gate, the American exploded forward with a right hand that pierced through Perez’s hands. Perez was put on retreat, but before he could get a chance to recover, Williams smothered him, synced up a tight guillotine, and took it home. Perez almost looked to be free, but a quick adjustment from “The Animal” left the Mexican fighter unconscious against the cage. The finish was very reminiscent of Jon Jones’s submission win against Lyoto Machida.
This victory for Williams is the fastest submission in UFC and WEC bantamweight history. Williams displayed fierce aggression and explosion. He’s no doubt a great athlete being that he’s a Division I wrestler, but it looks like he has some serious potential to be a force in the 135lb. division.
