Light heavyweights Randy Couture and Mark Coleman are expected to meet in the main event of UFC 109 on February 6 in Las Vegas, according to Sherdog, marking the first time UFC Hall of Famers will square off inside the Octagon.
Couture (17-10), a five-time champion in the light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions, returned to the 205-pound class on Saturday at UFC 105, scoring a unanimous decision win over Brandon Vera to snap a two-fight losing streak.
Coleman (16-9) is 1-1 since returning to the UFC in January, suffering a third-round TKO to Mauricio “Shogun” Rua before bouncing back with a unanimous decision over Stephan Bonnar in July. He had been slated to take on Tito Ortiz this Saturday at UFC 106, but was forced to withdraw from the bout with an undisclosed injury.
UFC 109, which takes place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center and airs live on pay-per-view, is expected to be headlined by middleweight champ Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort.
