Tito Ortiz Says Cris “Cyborg’s” Doing “Everything Possible” to Drop Down to 135

Now that Ronda Rousey has shortened the list of viable contenders yet again, discussion and buzz regarding a bout with Cris “Cyborg” Justino is at a fever pitch.

Rousey bombed out Bethe Correia in just 34 seconds at UFC 190 on Saturday, and as a result, she’s defeated seven of the UFC’s top ten bantamweights…The Judoka holds wins over the top five ranked contenders, and in the case of Miesha Tate, Rousey’s defeated her twice.

So, since “Cyborg” is widely considered to be the biggest challenge out there for “Rowdy”, that’s the fight everyone wants to see. Problem is, of course, that Justino is a featherweight, and has expressed doubts about her ability to make 135.

Recently “Cyborg’s” former manager, Tito Ortiz, was asked about Justino at a Bellator media event. Here is some of what the former UFC champ had to say (quote via MMA

“Cris is jumping through every single flamed hoop that everybody is asking her to do,” Ortiz said. “And she’s trying to get down to 135. Realistically, 140 is still a challenge for her to get down that low. She’s gonna try. She’s doing everything possible and it seems like Ronda is doing zero possible. She’s just sitting back and collecting her checks.”

Ortiz also questioned, as others have as well, why Rousey won’t agree to meet Justino at 140. Rousey has repeatedly insisted that she’ll only face “Cyborg” at 135, and has pointed at the latter’s previous suspension for PEDs as a reason why.

Hopefully this fight happens, and happens sooner than later. It certainly would be a huge, huge fight, if the UFC can book it when both women are at their peaks.
