Uriah Hall already his next assignment, after scoring a win at UFC Fight Night 73 earlier this month, and it’s a tough one.
The UFC has announced that Hall has agreed to step up and fight Gegard Mousasi at UFC Fight Night 75, which will take place on September 26th in Saitama, Japan. Hall is stepping in for Roan Carneiro, who has been forced to withdraw due to an undisclosed injury.
Hall (11-5) will be looking to build on the first round, stoppage win he recorded over Oluwale Bamgbose on August 8th, which followed a split decision loss to Rafael Natal in May. The feared striker has gone 4-1 in his last five scraps.
Mousasi (37-5-2) has some nice momentum behind him, as the middleweight is coming off a decision win over Costas Philipou and a TKO victory over Dan Henderson. Before those victories, the PRIDE vet was tapped out by Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza in September.
So, this is a big opportunity for Hall, as Mousasi is ranked #6, and a win would almost certainly propel him into the top 15. Getting past the very well rounded Mousasi, however, won’t be easy.
UFC FN 75 will go down at the Saitama Super Arena, and in the main event, Josh Barnett will take on fellow heavyweight contender Roy Nelson.
