Wagnney Fabiano is expected to make his bantamweight debut against Frank Gomez at WEC 46, while newcomer Bendy Casimir is likely to meet fellow lightweight Dave Jansen at the January 10 event in Sacramento, California, according to reports from MMAjunkie and GroundandPound.de.
Fabiano (12-2), the former IFL featherweight champion, had his eight-fight win streak snapped in an October loss to Mackens Semerzier and drops from 145 to 135 after teammate Jose Aldo won the featherweight title earlier this month. Gomez (6-1) suffered his first career loss in his WEC debut in January but has rebounded with back-to-back wins over Noah Thomas and Seth Dikun.
Casimir (19-5-2), a French native who has fought primarily in Europe, has won three-straight and 15 of his last 16 dating back to 2007, with 12 of his 19 career victories coming by submission. Jansen (14-0), an M-1 veteran, remained undefeated with a unanimous decision over Richard Crunkilton in October in his WEC debut.
The Versus-televised WEC 46 main card is headlined by a unificiation matchup between lightweight title-holders Jamie Varner and Ben Henderson, and also features Urijah Faber vs. Raphael Assuncao, while Fabiano-Gomez and Casimir-Jansen are slated for the event’s preliminary card.
