If you watched UFC Fight Night 74 last night then you know the event ended due to rather strange circumstances, and now Charles Oliveira has shed some light on why.
Oliveira called off his main event scrap with Max Holloway, less than two minutes in, after attempting to take the featherweight down. Oliveira pointed to his neck / collar bone and then slumped to the cage floor. It was a bizarre and scary conclusion to what could have been an outstanding fight.
Well, recently Oliveira spoke with MMA Fighting.com, and the Brazilian contender revealed the following:
“I injured my neck in training, but did physical therapy and thought everything was fine,” Oliveira said, “but when I fell against the cage everything went numb, I couldn’t feel my body.”
The 25 year-old fighter also said, not surprisingly, that he wants a rematch with Holloway. Oliveira was coming off wins over Nik Lentz, Jeremy Stephens, Hastu Hioki and Andy Ogle heading into last night. “Do Bronx’ is ranked #7 in the UFC’s 145 division.
UFC FN 74 went down in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
