UFC FN 75: Prelim Play-By-Play And Results


So, the UFC’s latest event is underway in Saitama, Japan, so let’s take a look at some prelim fights shall we?

Shinsho Anzai vs. Roger Zapata

Round 1: Zapata fires off a head kick but Anzai ducks under. Latter comes in with a big right. Anzai is hunting for a takedown but so far, he cant get it. Now Anzai gets the double leg. Zapata is trying to cage walk and eventually gets up. Zapata with a telegraphed leg kick. Anzai dives in on a leg but Zapata is defending. The exchange some knees in the clinch and the round ends.

Round 2: Zapata fires a kick to the body. Anzai dives in on a leg again but Zapata defends. Zapata comes back with another kick. Anzai is looking for another TD. Anzai plants a right but Zapata counters nicely with a flurry. Anzai ducks under another head kick attempt. Anzai takes Zapata to the mat with a nice trip (even though latter was holding the fence again). Zapata is looking for a guillotine. Anzai clears his neck. In ensuing scramble, Anzai moves to Zapata’s back, but latter reverses, gets back to his feet. They work off the clinch. Round ends.

Round 3: Zapata fires off a right but Anzai plants a nice counter. Zapata flurries in. Wow. Zapata stops and something’s wrong with his hand. Ref is bringing in doctor. Fight has to be over? Yup. Fight is done as ref had stopped the action.

Naoyuki Kotani vs. Kajan Johnson

Round 1: Johnson is moving forward early on, throwing various strikes. Kotani charges in but Johnson side steps away. Nice side kick from Johnson. Head kick attempt from Johnson is blocked. Johnson plants a hard right hand that stuns Kotani. Latter seems okay. Kotani dives for a single, and wow, Johnson defends after bouncing on one leg for several moments. Johnson with a wheel kick attempt that misses. Round ends.

Round 2: Kotani has a small cut by his left eye as round two begins. Johnson fires an axe kick that misses. Kotani looks for a TD but is denied. Huge right from Johnson puts Kotani on the mat. More shots from Johnson. Wow. Kotani gets back to his feet after eating several hammer fists. Yikes. Johnson cracks Kotani with a vicious knee to the body as he shoots in. Kotani is down, takes some punches, but gets back up. What heart. Kotani seems to have recovered. Round ends.

Round 3: Kotani needs a finish to win this. Kotani lands a solid left. Kotani comes in with a nice flurry and sweeps Johnson to the mat. Kotani is working from half guard. Johnson looks for a heel hook but Kotani defends. Latter is still on top. Johnson is working on another leg lock and now Kotani dives back and is hunting for his own. Wow. Fighters pop back to their feet. Kotani with a telegraphed TD. Johnson chucks a big right right before final horn goes.

Nick Hein vs. Yusuke Kasuya

Round 1: Kasuya wings a hard kick to the body. Hein returns with a leg kick. Kasuya momentarily trips Hein to the mat. Hein clinches up and hits Kasuya with a low knee. Action is halted. Kasuya is still in visible pain. Looks like the latter’s ready to go. Fight resumes. Kasuya lands a nice upper cut. Hein is keeping busy with the left. Kasuya throws a head kick that’s blocked. Hein comes with some hard punches that are blocked. Both men are keeping busy. Round ends.

Round 2: Hein comes out chucking some big punches and Kasuya returns fire. Hein is really loading up on his left. Kasuya kicks Hein to the body. Another left from Hein. Latter plants a right hook. Neither guy is throwing multi strike combos. Kasuya plants a nice left. Lots of movement but no intense exchanges. Kasuya goes for a trip. Round ends.

Round 3: Kasuya is staring to mix up his strikes. Hein brings another hard left. Action hasn’t slowed but no is really committing to the pocket. Hein plants a hard leg kick. Wow. Kasuya gets a TD but Hein quickly sweeps him. Hein complains that he took an eye poke. Fight resumes. Kasuya with a big kick to the body. Both guys call the other on. Round ends.

Keita Nakamura vs. Li Jingliang 

Round 1: Nakamura charges out but takes a left. Wow. Jingliang gets dropped but is responds with a triangle-choke attempt. Nakamura defends and fires down some hammer fists. Not much going on. Jingliang is just looking to lick Nakamura up.Ref stands them back up. Both guys are chucking big shots. Round ends.

Round 2: Welterweights are staying very busy. Jingliang fires a big right that just misses. Another right from Jingliang. Nice jabs from the latter as well. Nakamura is hanging in there but is eating some big shots. Nakamura goes to the mat after taking another left. Jingliang is on top and is tossing down punches. Nakamura is bleeding out of the nose. Nakamura gets back to his feet but continues to lose the exchanges. Round ends.

Round 3: This round could determine fight. Jingliang looks for a takedown. They clinch up. Action heads back to the center of the octagon. This is crazy. Jingliang comes in for another TD and Nakamura takes his back. Latter sinks in RNC. Wow. Jingliang falls to the mat unconscious! What a finish.
