Bitetti Combat 5 Results: Filho and Rua Victorious

Paulo Filho
Former WEC champion and Pride veteran Paulo Filho picked up his third straight victory since suffering his lone career defeat to Chael Sonnen, and fellow Pride veteran Murilo “Ninja” Rua picked up his second straight victory at Saturday night’s Bitetti Combat 5 in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Filho submitted his opponent Tatsushiko Nishizaka in the first round of their contest (video below), while Rua battled back from an early onslaught by Golden Glory product Jason Jones to earn a TKO victory in the third round of that fight.

An expected matchup between heavyweights Jeff Monson and Glover Teixeira was canceled on Friday after a pending legal case in the US prevented Monson from leaving the country. That bout has been rescheduled for a later date. Also, expected combatant Pedro Rizzo was forced to withdraw from the event due to tendinitis in his elbow.
