After living up to the hype in UFC debut last weekend, the 19 year-old Sage Northcutt says he may be taking a break from the books.
The lightweight took on Francisco Trevino at UFC 192, and Northcutt quickly put him way with strikes. With the win, the highly touted prospect move his pro record to 6-0.
Northcutt recently appeared on the latest “UFC Tonight“, and while doing so, he relayed the following about his college studies (quote via FOX Sports 1 press release):
“Last semester, I was taking classes full time and I didn’t have enough time to train MMA. This semester, I took off some of my classes and this was the first fight I truly got to train for. I might take a little time off from school to train. I’d be a totally different animal if I trained full time.”
There you have it. Considering all the buzz and hype that’s been following Northcutt, it’s not surprising to hear he’s thinking about focusing all of his efforts in fighting for now.
