The rivalry between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier had died down a wee bit in the preceding months, but now that the two are expected to fight in 2016, things are getting heated once again.
After Jones arrest earlier this year, the former light-heavyweight champ was largely absent on social media, until recently he reached a plea deal and avoided a jail term. Following Cormier’s epic, split decision win over Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 192, Jones relayed to “DC’ that he showed some “heart”.
As it stands right now, it remains to be seen when Jones will return to action, as he hasn’t been officially reinstated by the UFC. But, the consensus seems to be that “Bones” will be back in early 2016.
Well, recently Cormier announced that he wants to take a bit of break, as the champion fought three times this year (since he arrived in the UFC in 2013, the decorated wrestler has competed seven times). Jones was either informed about Cormier’s plans on Monday, or he just decided to comment on it then, as the renowned fighter tweeted this:
Take as much time as you want, the fire inside of me won't be dying down anytime soon. #AndStill

Now, you’ll notice that Cormier wasn’t actually mentioned or included in the tweet, but everyone under the sun knows who Jones was talking about. Cormier, not surprisingly, was informed of Jones’ comments, and tweeted out this:

So, there you have it. Now it will be interesting to see what unfolds in the coming months, and when Cormier-Jones II gets booked. It’s going to be a hee-uge bout.
Jones and Cormier met for the first time at UFC 182 in January, and Jones won the bout via UD.
