The UFC has called on Neil Magny to step up and fight for the tenth time in two years, and the welterweight has–of course–agreed.
Yes, the promotion has announced that Magny has agreed to fight Kelvin Gastelum on short notice and will battle the TUF 17 winner at UFC FN 78. The main event slot recently opened up as a result of Matt Brown incurring an injury.
So, as noted, this will be Magny’s (16-4) tenth fight since 2013 and his fifth this year. Most recently, the durable and well rounded fighter worked his way to a split decision win over Erick Silva. Before that he was submitted by Demian Maia, which ended his seven fight winning streak.
Gastelum (11-1) is looking to build on the TKO win (corner stoppage) he recorded in June against Nate Marquardt. The win returned Gastelum to the win column, after he lost via split decision to Tyron Woodley in January.
So, there you have it. UFC FN 78 will take place in Monterrey, Mexico, on November 21st.
