Ryan Bader And Anthony Johnson to Battle in January

Ryan Bader said he was interested in fighting Daniel Cormier next, and not Anthony Johnson, but it looks like “Darth” has signed off on fighting “Rumble” any ways.

Following Bader’s impressive, decision win over Rashad Evans last month, he continued to campaign for a fight with the light-heavyweight champ Cormier. But since Jon Jones has been reinstated by the UFC, it’s clear that the promotion plans to have him fight “DC” next.

In the latest episode of “UFC Tonight” on FOX Sports 1, it was reported that Bader and Johnson will battle on January 30th. The scrap will headline UFC on FOX 18, which will be hosted by the Prudential Center in Newark.

So, this isn’t surprising news really, since it matches up the #3 ranked Bader against the #1 contender in Johnson. One would think the winner will go on to face whoever takes Cormier-Jones II, which has yet to be signed.

Johnson took out Jimi Manuwa in his last outing at UFC 191, after he was submitted by Cormier at UFC 187 in May.
