Miguel Torres vs. Joseph Benavidez Likely for WEC 47 in March

Miguel TorresFormer WEC bantamweight champion Miguel Torres, officially added to WEC 47 earlier this month, will likely square off against Joseph Benavidez at the Versus-televised March 6 event in Columbus, Ohio, according to MMA Mania.

Torres (37-2) won 17-straight bouts between 2004 and 2009, rising to the top of the bantamweight rankings and winning the 135-pound title with wins over the likes of Chase Beebe, Yoshiro Maeda, Manny Tapia, and Takeya Mizugaki, but lost the belt after suffering a first-round knockout at the hands of Brian Bowles in August.

Benavidez (11-1), a training partner of former featherweight champ Urijah Faber, bounced back after suffering his first career loss to Dominick Cruz in August, knocking out Rani Yahya in the opening round of their December matchup.

WEC 47 is headlined by bantamweight title-holder Brian Bowles vs. Dominick Cruz and also features the return of featherweight Jens Pulver.
